Coffee from the Ywangan region

Shwe Ywa Ngan is located in Myanmar, Ywangan Region , Shan State. The founder is a man named U Win Aung Kyaw who has been roasting coffee since 1975. With his years of experience, he has been very influential in creating the Shanas coffee producing area.

His daughter Su Nandar Linn now runs the processing station and sorts some of the coffee. Most of the coffee grown here is the Red Catuai variety. The fertile red and yellow soil in this area, with its ideal alt itude and constant rainfall, makes Ywa Ngan a particularly favourable environment for coffee growing.

The ripe cherries are dried in tanks for 18 to 24 hours. They are then dried in the sun on raised beds for a further 48 hours and turned regularly every two hours. The semi-dried cherries are then dried on terraces, where they are turned three to four times a day.

How will this cup of coffee taste?

Myanmar coffees are characterised by their full body and earthy notes. These coffees have a very long tradition and their fruity taste will enchant you.

This natural coffee of the Red Catuai variety from Ywangan, boasts fruity notes of strawberry, mango and a fresh taste of melon. It has a pleasantly unusual wine aftertaste, offering a complex cup full of unique and balanced flavours.

This coffee is roasted using the omni roast method, making it suitable for both filter coffee and espresso. A neutral roast profile has been created that will give you a great taste, whatever your coffee preference. Enjoy drip coffee from a dripper, drip coffee maker, French Press, AeroPress or Chemex.
